Who to Believe

By bhittai

There are few categories of people who want us to believe in them about the origins of life and universe. Scientists, philosophers, and prophets; question is who to believe? Where scientists have made huge progress, they also have created encyclopedia of ignorance. Most of them say that they don’t know the complete truth, rest of them think that since there is no better alternative so they have to follow their mind.

Philosophers deduct and infer from the logical reasoning and we don’t know how much we can rely on that. Basically they rely on the human brain and we know human mind has limitations and is always in the process of evolution. To me philosophers are trying to make themselves happy and other people impressed.

Challenge is not to believe in what we know, the challenge is to believe in  what we don’t know because we know that we don’t know. Scientists and philosophers are not confident and sure about what they say. Prophets on the other hand were very confident about what they said. Also there is no comparison of character between scientists and prophets, the prophets had very strong character and life.

That is why literate as well as  illiterate, naive as well as noted scholars believed in prophets whereas that is not true of the scientists and philosophers. What prophets said is true even today and that has not changed, whereas science and philosophy keep changing. What should be criteria and who we should believe, is up to us though it doesn’t necessarily has to be only one of them.
